Debra Stokan, M.D.
Board Certified Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist
Dr. Stokan is trained as a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. She completed her medical student education at the University of Texas Medical School - Houston, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society.
She completed both her general psychiatry residency program, and her child and adolescent fellowship with UT Medical School - Houston. During her child fellowship, she was awarded a fellowship for additional training in family therapy techniques.
Dr. Stokan evaluates children, adolescents, and adults with emotional and behavioral disturbances, and where indicated, provides medication management. She has a particular interest in early childhood evaluations and intervention. Because she believes early intervention provides the best prognosis, Dr. Stokan has a strong dedication to mental health education in families, schools, and medical communities.
At this time, she is an assistant professor with UT Medical School - Houston, Department of Child and Adolescent psychiatry, responsible for educating both medical students and psychiatry residents. She also has a strong training background in dynamic psychiatry and the integration of psychotherapeutic techniques with psychopharmacology.
