Lourdes M. Valdés, Ph.D.
Clinical Psychologist
Lourdes M. Valdés, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist. She received her doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh and completed her clinical psychology internship at Baylor College of Medicine. She also received post-doctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine and at Texas Children's Hospital. Dr. Valdés is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Society of Pediatric Psychology (division 54 of APA).
Dr. Valdés performs psychological evaluations, individual, family, and group psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and adults. She treats a variety of disorders and her therapy often focuses on understanding how our thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions can affect our mood, behavior, and self-management. She is also developing a specialty in the evaluation and treatment of early childhood disorders. Dr. Valdés, who is fluent in Spanish, has received special training in working with children and adolescents with medical problems and concurrent psychological concerns. She has conducted clinical research in the following areas: behavior disorders in children with developmental disabilities, correlates of post-partum depression, and toddler's development of a sense of self.
