OVERVIEW
The ADHD Assessment Service is in development to alleviate some of the time physicians spend following the guidelines for making the diagnosing of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. We are aware of the expense for complete neurocognitive batteries and this can be a deterrent for parents to follow through with the recommendation. We strongly believe in collecting data before diagnosing and prescribing medication, which led us to create this service. The service provides computerized assessment tools for screening at a reasonable cost. The assessment session can be done in the physician’s office or at one of the ADHD Assessment Service locations. The test battery includes a patient medical and medical, developmental, and behavior history questionnaire, neurological cognitive tests, and parent/teacher behavior checklist. The battery of tests are not sensitive to re-test and therefore can be used for medication monitoring to measure efficacy and adequate doses.
The business model we plan to follow is to start small and hopefully expand to the broad market of pediatricians over 5 years. Initially the system will not be intelligent enough to solely automate the process and therefore a hands-on approach of reviewing reports will be done by Dr. Tarnow and me to ensure quality and consistency.
